Newborn Photography Session with Baby Hazel in Vassalboro
There’s something so special about reconnecting with past clients, especially when it means celebrating a brand-new chapter in their lives. A couple of years ago, I had the joy of photographing Marissa and Chris’s wedding. On February 19th, I had the pleasure of working with Marissa again—this time in my studio in Vassalboro with the sweetest newborn baby girl, Hazel, and her fun-loving big brother, Forest.
A Relaxed Studio Newborn Session
This was a model call session, which I often use to try out new props and setups for my newborn photography work. But as any newborn photographer knows, sometimes our tiniest clients have their own plans for the day.
When Baby Hazel Had Other Ideas
Hazel wasn’t feeling it, and she made sure we knew.
Despite our best efforts to incorporate new props and poses, we decided to shift gears:
- We opted for a wrapped newborn session to keep Hazel comfortable.
- This approach allowed us to capture peaceful, cozy images.
- Mom, Marissa, still walked away with beautiful photos to cherish.
Big Brother Forest Stole the Show
While Hazel kept us on our toes, her big brother Forest brought his own energy to the studio.
A Sweet Dachshund Surprise
Within minutes of arriving, Forest asked the all-important question, “Do you have a dog?”
As luck would have it, my little mini dachshund, Nash, was home that day. I brought him downstairs, and the pure joy on Forest’s face was unforgettable. He immediately started playing fetch with Nash, laughing with each toss and proudly declaring, “I WANT A WEINER DOG!”
Watching Forest and Nash bond was a heartwarming highlight, and seeing Marissa giggling as she watched her son having the time of his life was just as special. These candid moments reminded me why I love newborn and family photography so much—the unscripted magic that happens when you least expect it.
Why Flexible Newborn Photography Sessions Matter
Even though we didn’t get the model call shots I originally envisioned, we captured something even better:
- Authentic moments that reflect your family’s unique personality.
- Genuine smiles that tell a story beyond the posed pictures.
- Memories that last a lifetime—because sometimes the best shots come when you let go of the plan and embrace the moment.
